Lantern Floating Festival in Hawaii
Float a Lantern in Hawaii on the 30th of May – Come and Celebrate the Spirituality
Hawaii, full of beaches, good food, beautiful weather, rest and relaxation, offers a lot to the tourists. One of them being the lantern floating festival – that can help bring you some spiritual healing and inner peace, a yearly celebration that honours people who we have lost, giving attendees a chance to reflect, remember, and heal.
Held annually on Memorial Day on Oʻahu’s south shore, lantern floating festival brings together over 40,000 people on the beach, where they make paper lanterns to commemorate loved ones who have passed away, and at sunset they light a candle with each lantern and set them into the ocean. Each lit lantern carries a message from the heart and it honours the loved ones that passed on. It is a moving experience that is aesthetically and emotionally very beautiful.
It is a chance to be surrounded by the love, understanding, and support of others. The event includes music and a ceremonial lighting of the light of harmony, leading up to the floating of lanterns onto the Pacific Ocean. Those wanting to personally float a lantern received one at the lantern request tent on the event day on a first-come, first-served basis.
